Revolut Clears MiCA Hurdle to Offer Regulated Crypto Across Europe

Quick Takeaways

  • Revolut prevails MiCA license from CySEC, opening entry to 30 EEA crypto markets.
  • Its upcoming “Crypto 2.0” platform includes 280+ tokens and zero-fee staking.
  • The approval strengthens Revolut’s position as Europe’s leading crypto fintech.

Revolut Secures MiCA License for Pan-European Crypto Services

Fintech leader Revolut has attained a major milestone after obtaining a MiCA license from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). This blessing allows Revolut to provide regulated crypto-asset services across all 30 countries within the European Economic Area (EEA).

The new license will revolve in line with the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, aimed at ameliorating consumer protection, transparency, and reliance in digital asset markets.

A Major Step Toward Regulated Crypto Banking

Revolut already serves over 65 million global users, including 40 million in Europe. With MiCA authorization, it can now offer and market its full suite of crypto products under a unified regulatory framework.

Emil Urmanshin, Revolut’s Director of Crypto & New Bets, said the approval marks a turning point for the company.

“Crypto is a big part of our belief in banking without borders, and securing our MiCA license is a critical milestone,” he explained.

Revolut Digital Assets Europe CEO Costas Michael added that CySEC’s approval confirms Revolut’s commitment to high regulatory standards and responsible crypto innovation.

Revolut Unveils ‘Crypto 2.0’ Platform

Alongside the license, Revolut announced the launch of its upgraded “Crypto 2.0” platform, designed to deliver a faster and more efficient trading experience.

The platform will include:

  • Over 280 supported tokens
  • Zero-fee staking with up to 22% annual rewards
  • Direct 1:1 stablecoin-to-USD conversions with no spread.

Revolut says its cards, on/off-ramp tools, and low trading fees will make it one of Europe’s most affordable crypto platforms.

Rapid Expansion Across Europe

Revolut’s crypto journey has sped up in the past year. First launched in the UK, Revolut X later expanded across the EEA. Now available on the App Store and Google Play, it lets users trade anytime, anywhere.

The company now has over 14 million crypto users worldwide, and its wealth division tripled in revenue last year, boosted by a surge in trading activity and the rollout of Revolut X.

Pushing Deeper Into Web3

Revolut is also expanding its Web3 offering through Revolut Ramp, a feature that lets users buy crypto now into their wallets via integration with MetaMask and Ledger.

The fintech aims to lead global Web3 finance, offering easy access to digital products across Europe and beyond. Reports suggest that Revolut may soon introduce crypto derivatives, further expanding its suite of digital products. Executives say the MiCA license is key to their long-term crypto vision, merging compliance, innovation, and accessibility.
