Broke TikTok Crypto Trader Freed by Kidnappers

A young crypto content creator on TikTok was said to have been kidnapped in France, only to be set free moments later when his abductors came to know he was too broke to give the ransom they were asking.

A BROKE CRYPTO TRADER WAS ASKED €50,000 BY KIDNAPPERS

This incident was occured in northern France in suburb uvisy-sur-Orge, where the 26-year-old trader was returning home on Friday night. He was taken by 4 attackers & shoved into a stolen car. They are reported to have asked for €50,000 (around $57,000) in cryptocurrency as ransom.

The report says that the trader was attacked physically during the incident. But the very next day the kidnappers let him go after he showed his empty crypto wallet, convincing them he couldn’t fulfill their demands. His TikTok account gained about 40,000 followers. On this platform, he is currently posting content related to crypto trading. The French government has granted him six days of time off with pay because of the shocking event.

INCREASE IN FRENCH KIDNAPPING ASSOCIATED WITH CRYPTO

This incident contributes to a disturbing pattern of kidnappings in France that involve cryptocurrency. This year has seen & experienced an increase in these crimes this year, which has led law enforcement & government officials to take action.

In early May, armed assailants tried to kidnap Pierre Noizat’s daughter & his grandson from their home in a quiet suburb as part of a brazen, planned shakedown. In a different incident, police freed the crypto executive’s father, who had been kidnapped and had a finger amputated after being held captive for days. According to reports, the kidnappers were asking for a ransom of €7 million (approx. $7.8 million) for their release.

Authorities take action against Crypto Crime.

French authorities have increased their efforts to combat this rising/growing threat. They have made several arrests connected to these high-profile cases. Recently, a major suspect believed to be involved in multiple kidnappings was taken into custody in Morocco.

The Paris public prosecutor’s office has also charged 25 individuals connected to coordinated kidnapping schemes targeting prominent figures in the crypto industry & their families

Interest in digital coins keeps increasing & with it the risk that comes from being out in the open. These cases act a clear reminder of the importance of privacy and security in the digital financial world.
