Johnson told reporters his bill will “probably” be released over the weekend. Republican lawmakers said leadership presented several options behind closed doors, including changes to HSAs, cost-sharing reductions and pharmacy benefit managers. However, no clear agreement emerged.
Johnson argued his package will reduce premiums across the board. “The overall system is broken, and we’re the ones that are going to fix it,” he said.
Bipartisan Petitions Gain Momentum
Moderate Republicans read Congress must lead the subsidy to avoid a damaging outcome for consumers and, potentially, for their party in next year’s election.

Rep. Don Bacon, who supports both bipartisan petitions, warned that inaction would be politically costly. “It will be employed like a maul a year from now, ” he said. He totted up that turnout premiums would be unacceptable for his constituents.
Senate Efforts Stall as Deadline Nears
In the Senate, lawmakers failed to advance two competing proposals on Thursday. One bill was made out by Democrats, while Republicans supported another approach. Both efforts collapsed, leaving the chamber without a path forward.
The White House has urged Congress to act promptly, emphasizing that subsidies make health care affordable for the zillion. Without an annex, agiotage could climb sharply and go down in the future month.
